Hey y’all,

We haven’t had a review on this blog in a while, so here is a little something to end your week on a high.

I had the pleasure of finally checking out the Tav last week. They opened just about three months ago and I had been meaning to go ever since I saw the pictures on their Instagram page.

The hubby and I went on a Monday afternoon. I wasn’t feeling too well so my appetite was a bit off, but i wasn’t going to let that stop me.

We got there at about 3:30 pm, and sat outside in the open area which I must advise you to do in the evening and not in the afternoon, cause the heat was quite something. We found a booth reserved for us which was quite a thoughtful gesture.

We also had the pleasure of meeting Christina and the head chef Njuguna, who are both the co-owners of the place. They shared with us a short story of how they met in Australia and fell in love. Njuguna also happened to propose on the night they opened up to the public, which came as a complete surprise to her. They also shared the story behind the name “The Tav” which came from all the time they spent and all the memories they created in a pub called the Tav during their university days. I thought that was sweet!

After our short encounter with them, we were eager to finally order. We ordered our drinks and opted for the chicken lollipops as a starter. After that, we ordered for our mains. The hubby chose a chicken burger and I took the bacon wrapped chicken breast. Everything came with fries since that was the side to all three meals, well that or wedges.

I must say that the portions were great and I was completely stuffed by the time we were done, so much so, that I had to carry most of my food home. The lollipops were completely different from what I’m used to. Most places cook them in a sauce but these ones were spicy and fried. I also enjoyed hubbys burger, but then again I’m convinced his food is always better than mine, (It somehow always is)

The gravy on my chicken was a bit too salty but tasty none the less. The fries were done right! Crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, not oily or too dry! Thank God, cause I always say that anyone who messes up fries shouldn’t be cooking.

We were too stuffed from everything, we literally had no room for dessert, so we got another round of drinks and called it a day.

There were tv screens and a bar, and judging from the menu, this is the perfect place to go if you want to watch a game with your friends. Yet the restaurant is at a very central place, right on Waiyaki way right next to Villa Rosa, so if you work in the area and are looking for place to have lunch, I would recommend it to.

Below are a few pictures of our time there.

So there you have it, let me know of your experience when you check it out yourself.
